Hemayet Uddin, a Bangladeshi career diplomat since 1975, held key positions in the Foreign Ministry and missions abroad. He served as Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia, High Commissioner to India, and later as Foreign Secretary (2005). After retirement, he joined the OIC as Ambassador and Director General.
